World of Learning ~ Canley Heights Childcare Street Library Box 2025

$350.00
sold out

This Street Library artwork for the Canley Heights World of Learning Preschool celebrates community, culture, learning and connection.

Located on 25 Avoca Rd, Canley Heights NSW 2166, this library box represents the G8 Education core values of passion, innovation, dedication, compassion and integrity.

At its centre of this piece sits the world, symbolising the diverse and unified learning community of the preschool. Flowing around the world are vibrant spiral patterns, expressing the ongoing journey of learning and the memories nurtured by teachers. These spirals form a gentle layer of protection, surrounding the children with guidance, warmth and care.

A series of Indigenous meeting place symbols radiate outward, honouring the deep cultural importance of storytelling, yarning and shared connection. These six symbols acknowledge the strength and presence of Indigenous knowledge, especially within the lands of the Cabrogal and Dharug Nation, where this preschool resides.

Possum tracks, of the Warli Wali possum, the totem of the Canley Vale area appears within the artwork as a symbol of protection, luck, warmth and self-awareness, carrying the stories of clan and Country. Its presence offers a sense of guardianship for the children, families and staff of the preschool. At the heart of the design are delicate baby hands and feet, symbolising the children of the centre. These are wrapped in dotted spiral patterns inspired by the possum tail, highlighting the protective and nurturing environment in which the children grow.

I used an earthy colour palette for this box to create a lively, welcoming and culturally grounded piece celebrating the community identity of Canley Heights World of Learning.

It was a pleasure working alongside Centre Manager, Alisa-Marie Farrugia, in the creation of this piece. I am very humbled by the opportunity to create a piece that reflects their community and the importance of honouring our Country and Indigenous culture.
