Black Frame in Glass
Size: A4 (29.7 × 21 cm)
‘Love Held in Three Blooms’ is a hand-carved paper lace piece inspired by the delicate of Pandorea Jasminoides, Bower of Beauty Vines. This flowering plant is native to the coastal regions of eastern Australia, particularly found in New South Wales and Queensland as they bloom best in areas of tropical and subtropical rainforests.
Drawn from the blooms I observed in Queensland, this work explores the quiet fragility of the flower through intricate, hand-cut patterns. Each line is carefully carved to echo its softness and transient nature.
The composition of three flowers reflects the plant’s gentle growth, often associated with calm, romance, and quiet determination. Together, the trio forms a small story of growth, gentle blooming and recognises the importance of holding a sense of love, stillness, and connection in our lives.
